Davey Awards Recognizes Journalism in Action as Top Educational Site

The Davey Awards recently honored Journalism in Action with a silver award in the “Educational Websites” category.

Journalism in Action is an interactive website created for PBS NewsHour by d’Vinci Interactive and funded by a Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Resources grant.

Journalism in Action stimulates critical and creative thinking by examining ten key moments in American history, all from a journalist's perspective. Learners analyze primary sources such as newspaper articles, videos and photography to determine what happened and how such culture-shifting events affected civic life. Fun, interactive activities, allow users to inquire, ask questions, and make their own judgments using news articles, broadcast segments, political cartoons, and photographs curated from the databases of the Library of Congress.

To demonstrate their learning, students create their own journalistic content and share it with a parent or teacher. The ten key moment lessons are aligned to Common Core, C3 and ISTE standards and an extensive educator guide is also available.

The Davey Awards honors the best in web, video, advertising, mobile, and social from agencies worldwide. Sanctioned and judged by the top-tier professionals of Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), the Davey Awards has become one of the largest and most prestigious awards competitions for small agencies.
