WestEd, a nationally recognized nonprofit education research and development agency, is currently seeking high school biology teachers to participate in a classroom study of dVinci Interactive's online genetics and genomics curriculum Blueprint of Life.

Participating teachers will randomly be assigned to a Fall (October-December) or Spring (January-March) implementation period during the upcoming 2023-24 school year.

Participating teachers will:

• Attend a 60-minute virtual orientation and training at the beginning of the study and complete a short online log about each week’s instructional activities (approximately 5-10 minutes weekly).
• Implement 5 lessons of the Blueprint of Life curriculum as part of regular classroom instruction (approximately 8-10 hours of instructional time).
  • Lesson 1: Introduction to Epigenetics
  • Lesson 2: Molecular Mechanisms of Epigenetics
  • Lesson 3: Environmental Factors and Influence of Long-Term Health
  • Lesson 4: Environmental Factors with Epigenetic Influence
  • Lesson 5: Ethical Considerations of Epigenetics
• Administer surveys and assessments to students in your classroom in October 2023, December 2023, and March 2024.
• Potentially be asked to complete a 60-minute post-study phone interview with a WestEd researcher and/or help WestEd researchers identify and communicate with a small group of 3-4 students for a post-study interview.

Participating teachers will receive a $1200 honorarium. Students who participate in the small group interviews will each receive a $50 honorarium in the form of an Amazon e-gift card.
