Hotel Management Software Training for International Hotels Group

The International Hotels Group (IHG) is a hotel conglomerate consisting of seven hotel chains including Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Staybridge Suites.
This eLearning course provides property management system (PMS) training to IHG personnel worldwide. Sixteen modules of training cover tasks including making reservations, guest check-in and check-out, cashiering, housekeeping, management of group blocks and packages, night audits, and more.
Each module consists of lessons, practices, and quizzes. Lessons are professionally narrated animations, 3-10 minutes in length, demonstrating a typical process such as making a reservation or checking in a guest. Lessons are followed by practices, whereby the user is given a task and then proceeds to practice completing this task virtually. Each module contains one or two quizzes designed to test and reinforce the concepts being learned in that module.
Four customized versions of the OPERA training were required by IHG. Each version consists of six hours of seat time and includes both a full and an express version of the training in both English and Spanish, for a total of 24 hours of seat time.
Storyboards were customized by IHG to reflect OPERA functionality in their hotels. The entire course was developed using Captivate and Flash. Over 150 separate captivate movies were developed for the lessons, practices, and quizzes for each of the four versions. A Flash shell delivered the final product on CD-ROM.
