WebRangers Makes Railroad Connections
The National Park Service WebRangers website launches the 23rd activity co-developed by d'Vinci Interactive.
HAGERSTOWN AND WASHINGTON, D.C. - MAY 14, 2008
Railroad Connections was launched and demonstrated at Union station in Washington, D.C as part of the festivities for the first ever National Train Day Saturday May, 10th.
The activity tells the stories of the growth of railroads and their connections to National Parks in the U.S. Participants can "drive" a simulated steam locomotive, discover what makes it run, and send both whistle and telegraph signals. There are also videos to view along the way, further immersing the user into the world of locomotives. Railroad Connections is the latest of the over 45 activities available on the WebRangers site with more in the works.
First launched nearly four years ago this site allows kids to learn about and experience our national parks online. Funded in part through grants from Best Buy and the National Park Foundation, d'Vinci has been responsible for two major revisions and updates to the site in 2005 and 2007.
